Position Summary

Federal Data Systems is looking for a Systems Engineer Sr. Advisor at Defense Intelligence Agencies HQs in Washington D.C. to design and define system architecture for new and existing computer systems. Responsible for strengthening the defensive posture and cyber defense operational readiness of an IT Enterprise, our Cybersecurity program defends and protects Government assets from external Cyber Security attacks and Insider Threats that can potentially cause or create data, systems, networks, and personnel vulnerabilities. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Design, document, test, and deploy new Cyber Defense systems and provide Tier-3 operation and maintenance of Windows and Linux Operating Systems, as well as Cyber Defense systems such as, Fire-Eye, Fidelis, Gigamon, Suricata, and 
  • others. 
  •  Research, analyze, document and brief written products outlining new and emerging Cyber Defense technologies. And produce and disseminate build of Materials, cost analysis, and procurement recommendations of Cyber Defense technologies. 
  •  Operate independently to deliver Cyber Defense Solutions that meet customer requirements and execute pilot(s) and demonstrations of new, existing, or emerging Cyber Defense Technologies. 
  • Planning and directing upgrades and system enhancements, participates in special projects as required and communicates with customers and teammates clearly and concisely and maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned and may have supervisory responsibilities. 
  • Develop and implement testing strategies and document results, develop documentation on new or existing systems and provide system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance 
  • Serve as liaison with clients, participates in meetings to ensure client needs are met and provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff. 

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Due to the nature of this position and the information that employees will be required to access; U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Education and Experience.  
  • HS/GED + 12 years  
  • Associates Degree + 10 years  
  • Bachelor’s Degree + 8 years  
  • Master’s Degree + 6 years  
  • PhD + 4 years  
  • Required Security Clearance: TS/SCI CI POLY.
  • Candidate must have one of the following IAT II (CCNA, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP) AND one of the following CSSP Infrastructure Support  (CEH, CySA+, GICSP, SSCP, CHFI, CFR, Cloud+, CND).

 

Working Conditions: 

Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are normally set from Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required. Additional details on the precise hours will be informed to the candidate from the Program Manager/Hiring Manager. 

 

Physical Requirements: 

May be required to lift and carry items weighting up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday. 

 

Background Screening/Check/Investigation: 

Successful Completion of a Background Screening/Check/Investigation will be required as a condition of hire.
