IT Systems Engineer-Architect

Federal Data Systems is seeking an IT Systems Architect to design and implement computer and information networks, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, and other data communications networks. Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning. May also design network and computer security measures. May research and recommend network and data communications hardware and software. The IT Systems Architect will focus on soup to nuts cyber project management and coordination. You'll completely own applied research and experimentation projects and ensure their success. • Evaluate, develop, and deliver technical input to the systems engineering process.
• Develop technical documentation, system architecture, and system design documentation.
• Interact with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues, or conflicts.
• Oversee the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility.
• Communicate with other program personnel, Government overseers, and senior executives.
• Guide system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans.
• Analyze complex information and independently takes appropriate actions to resolve problems.
• Provide engineering guidance to technical staff and establishes effective working relationships with other Government agencies and mission partners.
• Deliver briefings on complex topics to groups, which may include high-level decision makers.
• Work complex research projects as senior contributors and as part of an integrated team.
• Design and deliver solutions.

• Due to the nature of this position and the information that employees will be required to access; U.S. Citizenship is required. 
• Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in System Engineering or related discipline.
• Active CISSP, CASP+CE, CSSLP certification (minimum DoD 8570 IASAE Level II Certification).
• Required Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI  with Polygraph.

Preferred / Desired Skills:

• Exposure to Cloud/AWS.
• A problem solver who can get in, be given a project, and use engineering skills to determine a solution.
• Knowledge of DoD Architecture Framework (DODAF).
• Able to build systems from the ground up – network architecture/systems engineering.

Working Conditions:

Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are normally set from Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required. Additional details on the precise hours will be informed to the candidate from the Program Manager/Hiring Manager.

Physical Requirements:

May be required to lift and carry items weighting up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.

Background Screening/Check/Investigation:

Successful Completion of a Background Screening/Check/Investigation will be required as a condition of hire.
